The Hosted Weave Service

Connect a repository to the hosted Weave service and your team shares its workstreams. Anterra runs the service in the cloud: you don't install or operate anything, the CLI connects with your account token. Your drafts never leave your device; only stitches are sent. Without it, the CLI works fully in local mode.

The weave check

The service holds every workstream head. Each stitch is checked and weaved atomically; a stitch made against an older head is carried forward by symbol. Promotion, inheritance and change requests between workstreams run here, and every action lands in a hash-chained operation log (weave log).

Owners and suggestions

Claims give symbols an owner under a renewable lease. Changes to symbols someone else owns become suggestions to that owner, and when a signature changes, the owners of its callers are told.

Semantic search

Symbols pushed by weave index and the watcher are embedded and searched on the service, which also predicts the symbols an intent touches for weave start. Embeddings are never computed on your machine, and there is no local embedding mode yet.

Connecting a repository

Log in with a Personal Access Token from your Weave account (saved to ~/.weave/config.json with owner-only permissions, or set WEAVE_TOKEN), name the repository, then connect the checkout. There is no anonymous mode, and every connection is scoped to one repository your account can access: the CLI uses WEAVE_REPO_ID, else repo_id in .weave/config.json, else the org/name of its origin remote (or its only remote); with none of these, the service uses your repository if you can access exactly one. Always use https: the token is sent with every connection.

weave login # token from www.weave.directory → Settings → Access Tokens
weave init --local # creates .weave/, needed by 'weave remote add'
weave remote add origin https://www.weave.directory/<org>/<repo>
weave init --server https://api.weave.directory
weave watcher # background: leases renewed, files on disk in step

The CLI defaults to https://www.weave.directory and https://api.weave.directory. If an older ~/.weave/config.json points elsewhere, see configuration.

Availability

The service is proprietary to Anterra and is offered only as a hosted service. The CLI is source-available; see the license.
